Great Outdoors Initiative

This was brought to my attention today by my former employer. I sent an email to Mayberry over at Keep It Simple Survival in the hopes that he might help get the word out. Below is the email I sent him:

"Mayb,
I left a response to your last blog post and should have just emailed you with it – duh! It was about the Great Outdoors Initiative. I sign my comments as Lisa in Bammer because I live in Alabama. My former employer owns a vast amount of land in Marion county along the Cahaba river. The proposal under this plan will take his land and his only option will be to let the government have it or give them the rights to it. If he gives them the rights to it, he can no longer use it as he sees fit. That means no hunting, fishing, etc. He, nor any of the other land owners were notified of this. His wife was at the library and happened to see a map laying out that had the areas marked with different colors for the different phases of the plan. This man is getting on in years and purchased this land for his retirement so he and his sons, who are both disabled, could have a place to live, farm, hunt, fish and whatever else they wanted to do. Now the HMFIC of this country is trying to see to it that his dreams are sacrificed for the greater good of the wild animals in that area and so that people who live in the city can go out in the woods to see what nature looks like.
This has gotten me pretty riled up and not just because it’s someone I know. When will people wake up and realize that this crap is happening everywhere and they or their loved ones could be next on that list! Sorry for the rant and the long email but I wanted to make sure you saw this and maybe could possibly help get the word out. I read your blog every day several times a day just to make sure I don’t miss anything. Keep up the good work."

This, my friends is a sad state of affairs. You may say, "this doesn't directly affect me so I have no opinion." (Sounds a lot like Glen Beck about same sex marriage!) It may not directly affect you now but what happens when it's not an anonymous retired family in Podunk,AL? What happens when it's you, your parents, your family?


Please form your own opinion and don't take my word for it. I've included a link below with some of the information. Don't even take that as all the information out there about it. Google it yourself and read every piece of information about it. Then decide what you're going to do.
a. be alarmed by it, but get caught up in soemthing else in two minutes and forget it
b. take the Glen Beck attitude
c. give this information to everyone you know and start calling your congressmen and representatives at every level.

Not Quite So Crazy

Have you seen the pictures of the grocery stores in the east where the snow storms have hit? Empty shelves all around because a) people panicked and bought everything they could get their hands on, b) trucks can't get through the roads to re-stock the shelves, and c) THEY WEREN'T PREPARED!!! Being prepared isn't just for a national emergency like being attacked by another country or anything like that. It's being prepared for anything. People who were prepared for this storm aren't panicking because they have food, a way to cook it, water and heat with enough fuel to keep it going all without having to depend on electricity. This is just one example of why it pays to be a prepper.

My brother is remodeling my kitchen for me which has a chimney flu in it. When he started to close in around the chimney flu, I asked him to leave a door in it so if it ever came down to it, I could use it again. May not ever need it but at least I'll still have access to it if I do. He calls it the apocalypse door. Judging from what some people are going through with this snow, the apocalypse is here for them. You can call the door what you want to bro' - just as long as you put it in there for me!

The Line in the Sand

Regardless of where you stand on your feelings about the current political and economic situation, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Americans are facing hard times. The government is doing everything in their power to take away as many of our rights as they can, including taking this "Crazy Old Lady's" shotgun. Their line of thinking is, disarm the people, oppress them to the point they will do what Bubba Gov says just to be able to feed their families and then you have complete control over them. That's also called SLAVERY! If you depend on the government (a master) to feed, clothe and house you, then you have to do what they tell you to, even if it's against your will, to keep you and yours clothed and fed. That is the definition of a slave.
People, you need to wake up and pay attention to everything that's going on around you. Read and listen to all the news you can, not just the one's controlled by the White House because you won't get the truth there. And for goodness' sake, take a stand. Draw your line in the sand now that you aren't willing to cross and be ready to fight to hold your place. Apathy will kill this country because a lot of good Americans keep silent.

A Few Truths

I am not really crazy. I'm definitely not old. The lady part may be in question on any given day depending on the circumstances. The shotgun part is completely true! I'm not one of the conspiracy theorists but I do believe there is more going on with our government than meets the eye and I have no doubt if it comes down to us or them, they'll choose them.

I am a prepper. I prepare for anything that might come my way. I try to have enough of what I need to take care of myself in any given situation that may come my way. I'm no where near where I would like to be in prepping but I'm farther along than I have been and I'm still working on it.

I am a Christian and I believe that God does love us and wants to bless us. I won't get into a pissing contest with you about it one way or the other so don't start. I've always been taught that the Lord will take care of His own but I was also taught that He gave us sense enough to plan ahead so we need to do our part. He might bless the garden with rain and sunshine but we have to plant the seeds and bring in the crops.

I hope this blog will help to influence my friends and family, who sometime think I am crazy, to see things a little more the way I do. I'm not getting ready to become a recluse or anything extreme. I'm just trying to put by enough to survive and learning what I need to about growing my own food in the event TSHTF.
